I would say the most frequently asked questions I get overall are usually fitness related. This is something I have been meaning to touch on for a while now, but it is hard to tie into my blog sometimes. So today I am answering the top four fitness-related questions I get asked:
What kind of workouts do you do?
-I tend to stick to HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) workouts, which are typically high-energy workouts spanning over 30-35 minutes. These types of workouts seem to be the most effective in a short amount of time. I have done Kayla Itsine’s BBG (Bikini Body Guide) 1.0 & 2.0. I now use her BBG App, which can be found in the App Store. I like to constantly have new workouts generated for me (which is what the App does). *I have no promotional affiliation with Kayla I just genuinely enjoy her workouts and they work well for me.
-However, there are tons of HIIT workouts already on the internet for free. Some days I would just go on Pinterest and type in HIIT workouts or HIIT treadmill workouts.
-I am also a big fan of group fitness. There is a weighted workout class at my gym that I really enjoy plus being in a group setting pushes you a little more than you would if you were on your own. (Or maybe that’s just me?? lol)
How often do you workout?
-My goal is to workout 5-6 times a week, but realistically it is more like 4-5 times a week. I do 3 HIIT workouts a week focusing on a different sections of the body; for example arms & abs, legs, or full body. Then I do 35-40 minutes of cardio 2-3 times a week.
-I try to do cardio first thing in the morning before work, which is usually around 5:30 AM unfortunately. I have never been much of a morning person…. but I will power walk at a serious incline for 20 minutes and then jog the remainder of the time. Or I will alternate between jogging and sprinting.
-I always try to take a power walk on my lunch break if the weather will permit–Every little bit helps!
Do you use pre-work out?
-I don’t really know exactly how I feel about pre-workout. It definitely saves me on days where I am draggin ass, but I also don’t think anything that speeds up your heart rate can be good for you. I try to use it only when I need it because it is not something you want to become dependent on. I would say I use it once- maybe twice- a week if I am really sleepy, but for the most part I try to go without.
Do you have any tips on how to stay motivated?
-Motivation can be tricky. I work 8-5 everyday and do all of my blogging activities at night, which sometimes leaves me virtually no time for anything else. This year has been a serious adjustment for me, but I promised myself I would stay dedicated to a healthy lifestyle. Whether I am getting up at 5 AM to hit the gym, power walking at lunch, or working out right after work, I am sure to make time for the gym at some point throughout my day.
My number one best tip for staying motivated: find a work out partner
-I actually have a few work out buddies that keep me on track. I have two friends at work who will sometimes hit the gym with me after. Two of my other friends who have the same gym membership as me and also my sister! I always try to plan a time to work out with another person because it will keep me accountable, especially on early morning workouts.
Next tip: progress photos
-Taking progress photos to track your body’s physical changes is the best motivation. Once you start to see some changes you’ll be like, heck ya I can keep doing this. I have pretty much tracked all of my fitness journey through progress photos or how my clothes fit–I rarely weigh myself on a scale.
Lastly, wireless headphones
I got a pair of Beats wireless headphones last Christmas and they have changed my life at the gym. Definitely my number one gym essential. I can do virtually every work out (burpees, weights, all types of jumping around) with those babies firmly in my ears. Bumpin’ to a new playlist is the only way to go!
