Try this DIY brown sugar honey scrub before hitting the beach…

I actually learned about this concoction from my high school Geometry teacher. She had the most radiant, flawless skin and she swore by this! I love it because it’s easy to use, inexpensive to make, and leaves my skin SO soft.

I am leaving for Hawaii on Wednesday, so in order to get beach ready I want to get rid of any dead skin cells before catching some rays. I have seen some similar recipes on Pinterest for a sugar honey facial scrub, which also works great, but I think it’s good for your whole body too. This is a must if you are about to get a spray tan or apply self-tanner. On the flip side–if you have gotten a bad spray tan and need to get it off–I have been there before & this was my saving grace.

An added bonus is that this is all natural. I’ve said it before in other posts, but I have super sensitive skin so giving it a break from any additional chemicals is a plus!

IMG_0697Here is a preview of what the scrub looks like^ Since I already have it on one leg I’ll show you how I mix up the next batch for my other leg.

IMG_0713I start off by pouring the honey directly into my hand, about the size of golfball. I think it’s easier to make it in the palm of my hand as opposed to mixing it in a container and pouring it from there.

IMG_0717I measured out about 1/3 cup of brown sugar for both of my legs. After pouring the honey, I then sprinkled a desired amount of the brown sugar into my hands. You want even parts of honey and brown sugar, but you can add more brown sugar to make it grittier.

IMG_0675Application: I start off by applying small amounts of the scrub around my ankles, and then adding more of the mixture as I work it up my legs. I even use it on the bottoms of my feet too.

Hope you’ll give this a try. Happy tanning!
