noun. a woman’s long loose dress, or long belted tunic.
Not the most common term, and on so many different websites I have seen them spelled both ways (caftan/kaftan). I’m not really sure which is correct, I prefer it with a “K” so I will stick with that throughout the post ; )
However, after wearing this snake-skin print kaftan, I think it is such a beautiful piece & everyone should own one–plus it’s fun to wear when the wind is blowing.
I love the oversized + flowy effect. It gives you a beach chic vibe if that’s what you’re going for. There are many different lengths of these kaftan cover-ups. If you opt for a longer, sheer one like I am wearing above, then you can tie it around your waist for a sarong-like effect too. I wear mine like that a lot. (Pictured below)
Most of these cover-ups are pretty pricey because typically they are made of silk or nicer materials, but I have included some of my favorites all for under $100 dollars. *I think Etsy has some of the most amazing handmade kaftan dresses for less than $50* Click the pictures at the bottom of this page to take you to each site : )
Here I am trying to be cute / look a little bit taller than my normal 5 feet and 3 inches by standing on a rock…Which was covered in some kind of algae or seaweed. When the waves rolled in & got it wet, it became REAL slick. My camera snaps pictures so fast my sister was able to get these before she even knew I was falling. LOL gave a few people at the beach a little bit of entertainment that day.
These are in no particular order–Enjoy! Xoxo
