NYC BABY: travel diary of my latest trip to NYC with my best gal McKendree… where we went + what we ate + what we wore …
NEW YORK CITY
I spent this past week in NYC!!! It was my first time back in 10-11 years wooow crazy. The last time I was there I was dancing in the Macy’s Day parade lol #TBT.
Anyway, now that I am older I can really appreciate the city and all it has to offer. Not to mention, it’s the first time I have been on my own to explore and make my own agenda.
No lie, Mckendree (my travel buddy + photographer + best frand) & I were pretty clueless majority of the time as to where to go and how to get there, but we stumbled upon some awesome places. Seriously had a freakin’ blast.
I need everyone to know that I always have the craziest travel experiences. EVERY. single. time. I was detained in Memphis because TSA sensed “movement in my suitcase” that I had already checked at the Ticketing counter. My bag was “pulsing” – IT WAS MY SONICARE toothbrush. Somehow it turned on… I guess sorry forgot to take the batteries out?? LOL Who even knows to do that? Had to go through security twice & searched all of my belongings, which almost made me miss my flight. Ended up changing planes and flight plans four more times before I finally landed in NYC! I was 5 hours delayed and I’m 98% positive I was almost kidnapped at the NYC airport by a man claiming he was my Uber driver (my driver was a woman on the app) and his car was “just around the corner.” SOoo that was Wednesday. All of that to say. Airplane mirror selfie FTW because I basically hung out on different planes / at airports all day.
Landed in NYC. Immediately went to this cute lil Mexican spot to get margs. We ducked into the Cascabel Taquiera – it was honestly perfect because we were seated immediately.
They had awesome margs & a delish, super healthy harvest bowl of veggies, spinach, and quinoa. Definitely a more modern Mexican spot. Their watermelon basil margaritas were on point as well as their regular margs. Yes I got both…whoops!
This post is already getting long so I will hit the high points… We did some damage at the Topshop on 5th Ave – ah-mazing, had a fun photoshoot in front of the Flatiron building (of course), and ate at Eataly right next to the Flatiron.

LATER THAT NIGHT….
That evening we went to the best Indian restaurant called the Drunken Munkey. We sat at the bar and had a delicious meal.
The bartender even hooked it up with a free round of drinks and a free desert. Some sort of rum cake I believe, but omg so good. If you like Indian food, then I would definitely check this place out. Might have been on of my favorites the whole trip**

We had some friends in town celebrating our friend JJ’s birthday. So we hit up Mr. Purple first (really cool rooftop bar ^) more of chill vibe so a good starting place. Since it was Thursday not as many places were open so we bar hopped around. We went to this one dive bar called Rathbones, the DJ was lit. I’m all about a good playlist. From there we went to Fat Baby (lol what a name), which was a cool spot too. It was a blast, but the price for drinks is crazy so be prepared!!!!
We sorta wasted a lot of the day Friday sleeping in because we did stay out too late and drank more than intended – I usually love getting up super early to seize the day whenever traveling!!
However, we hit Pizza Beach for a late lunch.. because pizza cures everything!!! Such a fun place to eat and I was in love with the decor.
Wearing my new favorite Topshop set that I’m sure you guys are tired of seeing already!! Lived in my Superga shoes basically the entire trip. Free people tank, rosary necklaces, retro aviators. Last details, my favorite anklets from Windsor store.

That evening we went to the Standard, which is the bar at the top of the High Line Hotel. Seriously amazing views and SUCH a beautiful bar. *disclaimer* it is a little bougie…. McKendree and I didn’t exactly know what we were getting ourselves into – haha. We felt like we did not dress for the occasion. The staff was dressed to the nines and everyone there looked business casual, like they had come from work, or the rest of the crowd seemed to be wearing all black. WE DID SIT RIGHT NEXT TO BRITTANY SNOW AT THE BAR!! She is so beautiful and precious in person!!!
You can take your drink up to the rooftop were you can see an incredible view of the city. ^
I was wearing a crop top from Windsor, white wrap skirt from LF, and my fav white platform shoes. Linked below:
FRIDAY NIGHT CONT’D….
We had dinner at Santina, which was a coastal Italian place in the Meatpacking District. They have delicious fresh fish dishes if you are looking for something healthier! We loved it.
We ended up taking a walk after dinner to do some exploring…. and ended up stumbling into Snowdays for some ice cream. Basically this entire trip we didn’t have much of a plan, we just tried new places as we saw them. This was a good find. They make shaved ice cream – like a snow cone, but ice cream – ha if that even makes sense?! Super light and fluffy and soooo goood.
SATURDAY: LAST DAY – BROOKLYN
We spent Saturday exploring Brooklyn. The first stop immediately off of the subway was at the Bagel Store to get some of their crazy rainbow color bagels.
Naturally, I wanted to get a picture in front of the Manhattan bridge. The intersections at Water and Washington street are the prime spots, CLICK HERE for more info. However, warning it was CRAZY PACKED. We did go on a Saturday afternoon, which was a bad call. If you want an awesome shot I would suggest a weekday, probably early AM would be best!
Unfortunately, the striped dress I am wearing above is sold out, but I have linked the exact same styles below. I actually like some of the patterns better! All of the dresses below could be styled the exact same way – with my favorite FP belt, white tennies, and Zero UV sunnies. Shop below!
Saturday night we hopped on the subway and headed to dinner at the Kola House to meet some of my friends from college! So fun catching up with them. The food was delicious, too. Around 10 or so they have live music – it does get super loud!! Not the best setting when you are trying to catch up with old friends hah! Still a happening spot.
We ended our night at Green Gallow a rooftop bar on top of the McKittrick Hotel. Super trendy spot – all about the rooftop bars right now!
I’m wearing a super cute, polka wrap-dress from Windsor store. It comes in black and white and is only $40. Linked below : )
That’s all for now! Until next time NYC!
I don’t usually do travel diary / recap posts, but I thought it would be fun to change it up. I hope I could spark a few ideas for y’all if you ever visit NYC. Let me know what y’all think or if you have an suggestions as to what you would like to know more about!! XOXO
Happy Friday lovies!
